We've been busy over the XMAS and new years break recording away on our new EP at Harpoon Studios.  We even spent most of new years eve in the studio.
Our first Perth show for 2011 is at the Rocket Room with Demi Monde, One Thousand Years and The MDC Friday night the

If you're down south WA come and see us again at the Dunsbourough Tavern on Saturday 22nd of January.  We've got the whole night to ourselves from about 8pm.

Spot The Difference
Friday 19 November 2010 at 10:10PM

It was great to be a part of Telethon again this year. We decided to have a little fun this year with our performance. You can check out the video here.

See if you can spot any oddities... thanks to Rhys for the upload and Shea for the special edition "Stellacaster" guitar.

Back To School

This Friday the 12th of November, we're off up to Wanneroo Senior High School to play for everyone and hang with the students in the schools music and arts programs. WAMi and Healthway organise a schools program to help promote music as a realistic career choice.

McHappy Day & Telethon
Sunday 7 November 2010 at 07:53PM

We've been invited to be part of  McHappy Day again this year on the 13th November.  At  Mcdonalds Morley - We'll be playing an acoustic set in the store from about 11:00am.  Later that night we'll be on Channel Seven's Telethon.

2010 is Coming to An End
Sunday 17 October 2010 at 06:41PM

Hey everyone!  The end of 2010 is rapidly approaching and for the last month or so we've played the odd gig here and there while working on our new EP.

We're just back from Dunsborough again this weekend playing a 3 set show.  The focus till the end of this year will be studio time knocking down our parts for the remaining songs to record for the EP.

We've been invited to help out again on Mchappy Day and to play on Channel Seven's Telethon this year.  Both these events are on in November. We'll let you know more about  the dates and details soon.

We're Going to the Country
Saturday 31 July 2010 at 08:16PM

We're back in August playing live and for the first time we're off down south of WA to Dunsborough to play!  We've been working on the new EP and still have a fair bit to do in the studio to complete it.

On August 15 at the Newport Hotel we're playing a gig with 7 other bands organised by S.L.A.M. (Supporting Local Alternative Music).

Then its off to Dunsborough on the 20th to play a 3 set show, which will be something a litte bit different for us. First up we'll play an acoustic set and then two full band sets.

Writing & Recording
Saturday 22 May 2010 at 02:16PM

We've been quietly going about writing and recording tracks for our 2nd EP.  We have 4-5 new track ideas with 3 of these songs well into development. We've added two new songs to our live set which seem to be coming accross well to those listening. Jon is documenting some the recording process on the Gearpage forum. So far we've looked at drum recording and setup.

Earlier this month we went accross to Melbourne for a short break.  We caught up with some of our friends in Melbourne and went to the Rod Laver Arena to see John Mayer.  Read a little bit more about our trip and the concert here.

February Focus!
Saturday 20 February 2010 at 10:15AM

We've spent most of this month writing and discussing what we have planned for this year. We're working on several new ideas for songs and have planned a solid practising schedule for the next month or so.

We're also planning another CD release later this year which we hope will be a lot more interesting than your usual EP production and launch.

Our next gig is with The Bronze at the Rocket Room on March 19th. The Bronze are launching their debut album "A Waltz for Lost Souls"

Happy New Year!
Saturday 9 January 2010 at 6:15PM

Hope you all enjoyed Xmas and new year and did your best to see off 2009 without regret.. We got an awesome present for xmas and went shopping at Billy Hydes with the $1000 voucher we won for winning the WA heats of the Tooheys Extra Dry uncharTED competition.

We’d like to say a big thanks to all for accepting requests from friends or adding yourselves to the Stellas Kitchen FB page. Its been a great ride over the past year and a half for my brothers and I and watching the numbers grow at shows and on our page has been very rewarding. So thanks for the support!

We’ve managed to achieve quite a lot in such a short time as a band and Im excited about 2010 and beyond.

For me 2009 had some great highlights.

Our debut release of the ‘Fundamentals’ EP at the Amplifier bar to over 400 people was the biggest milestone for Stellas Kitchen to date. Distributed across Australia via Firestarter has seen us gain sales, radio airplay and positive reviews in music press across the nation. Appearing on Channel 7’s Telethon was an experience I wont forget, (especially as I tore my hamstring the same day in a drunken 50m sprint challenge with mates and needed pain killers to get on stage that night!).

Our music making the National Compilation CD ‘Grow Your Own upload 3’ for the 2nd year running with ‘Talking To’, and our song ‘Baby’ making it on WAM’s ‘Kiss my WAMi CD’ were great industry achievements. We also got to support Choirboys and Dave Evans with their tours to Perth and our video clip for ‘Talking To’ made it to ABC’s RAGE tv.

So whats ahead for 2010?

Well, we’ve been writing new songs and are itching to get them into our upcoming shows. We have another exciting video clip in the works and we are also working out which tracks to put on our next release this year. We’ve got a few shows coming up and will also be looking at touring up north and down south this year.

Our first 2010 show is with Hailmary for their 2nd EP launch at Amplifier Bar on Sat the 16th January. These guys are a great band and good mates who went to the US to record this EP. Check out the event details here http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=204280826798&ref=mf
hope to see you there!

Thanks again for you support and stay tuned, its exciting times to be a band in WA as live music is really starting to thrive in this state.

Dan

The Sunpilots & McHappy Day!
Wednesday 11 November 2009 at 9:15PM (dom)

Heya Guys!  If you're like us you'll be spinning out at how quickly 2009 is disappearing fast! We've got a few more things happening before this year is out.

We had a great time as always, with our great friends and comrades in brotherhoodness - Homebrewe, at their CD launch last friday nite at Amplifier!!  You have to admire these young rapskalians how they go about it and how far they have come.  We love gigging with these guys and its been a pleasure watching them grow on stage and in the studio. We've got more gigs and promo coming into the new year with Homebrewe.

This Friday night we support touring Sydney band The Sunpilots at The Rocket Room in Northbridge. This show is part of The Sunpilots' "Animals In My Mind Tour". Our friends and great local Perth band Hailmary  also are playing along with Stereoflower. Hailmary are just back from recording and gigging in the USA!! Friday night is their first show back in Perth. Can't wait to hear some of their new songs!!

The Sunpilots - 11- 11:45
Hail Mary - 10:00-10:40
Stellas Kitchen – 9:05- 9:40
Stereo Flower – 8:15- 8:45

Join us on Saturday 14th November for McHappy Day at McDonalds in Morley as we're back again this year to help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House charities.

RMHC provide accommodation for families so that they can stay at or near the hospital while their child is being treated. As many as 300 families will be sleeping at a Ronald McDonald House tonight and 5,000 families each year.

You can help by coming in and buying a Big Mac and $1 will go directly to RMHC. You might get sick if we made it but, hey...

All profits from Crazy Crazy Crazy Straws go to RMHC!! buy one for $3 you'll go crazy!! (note: crazy results may vary)

So come along to Maccers in Morley and see if we are able to keep  up with the hardworking crew in the store!

Hush.. its Quiet.. for now
Wednesday 21 October 2009 at  09:45 PM (dom)

We are currently reforming with a greater emphasis on flutes, theremins and electro pop afro beats.... well not really.. Its a quiet coupla weeks for us until we join our good friends Homebrewe at the Amplifier Bar for the launch of their album "My Own Nemesis" on Friday 6 November.

So we're working on new song ideas for our live set. Hopefully over the next few weeks we'll be ready to include more new material into our shows. Our new songs seem to be taking us into more diverse styles and dynamic of song which has been really rewarding.   It feels like we're growing and maturing as a band, and getting better!  Hopefully if you've been following us for a while now you can see that coming out in our performances too.  Theres nothing like hard work and time out there gigging .. and PRACTISE.

Team Kael

Monday 5 October 2009 at 10:39PM

Hey guys… well even though Dan tore his hamstring in a 50m race on sat and was on painkillers all day and night, we still made it down to the PEC for our live acoustic telethon performance. Don’t worry as soon as we get the video footage of his Gary Lyonesque injury we’ll post it up for all to enjoy!

We’d like to say how cool it was that many of you all stayed up, recorded or set alarms to watch our performance on Telethon, it is soo awesome. We had a blast and really enjoyed being able to be part of the whole cause. One of the most moving things we encountered was a personal message from a friend about Leah Holman and her 6 year old son Kael being in PMH and how if we could say a shout out to them while on Telethon it would make their day. As we have a large family (we have 2 more sisters and another brother) we thought it would be perfect if did more than just mention them, but dedicate our song ‘Still Around’ to them. Its all about saying the things we often forget about to the people you care most for.

We have the performance on our Stellas Kitchen Facebook pageand on youtube so stop by and check it out.

Most importantly, Leah Holman has a page all about her sons situation see the attached link for Team Kael. Kael has had a rough couple of days and with Telethon fresh in our minds it would be great if you could all stop by and give some support and prayers for them and sign up to Leah's Journal blog.

anyway take it easy. We're playing a full live show at the Rocket Room on Saturday night. So come down and see us there.

Telethon 2009
Tuesday 29th September 2009 at 08:24 PM (dom)

We've been fortunate enough to be asked to perform on this years Channel 7 Telethon.

Telethon raises record amounts each year improve the lives of children and young people throughout Western Australia.  One of Telethon's main beneficaries is the Princess Margaret Hospitall

Telethon is on this weekend, the 3rd & 4th of October and we are playing early (really early) Sunday morning at around 1:25 AM.  So come on down to the Perth Convention Centre on your way home (from your Saturday night disco dancing) and join the studio audience. We’re playing acoustic versions of our songs “Still Around” and “Steal Your Mind”.  Otherwise tune in or set your VHS recorders to Channel Seven!

Turn Back the Clock

Sunday 20 September 2009 at 2:02PM

Its been a busy few months for us of serious gigging with uncharted Live, support of touring artists Dave Evans, the Choirboys, but most of all our debut release 'Fundamentals' EP at the Amplifier Bar. Its been a great ride this year and we can't wait to see whats next around the corner.

But this coming long weekend, we're part of a show which brings us back to where we first started - the Newport Hotel ...This show's Free Entry and reminds us of why we put Stellas Kitchen together... because we love music and love playing with family and friends!

The Clock Strikes were the first band we befriended when starting out 2 years ago and now they are returning for their first show in almost a year! Our cousin Vincent has been like a silent member of Stellas Kitchen too. And with his new solo career starting out, its awesome how we have the opportunity to support his first show in Perth before heading back to Melbourne.

Come down and see us at the Newport this coming long weekend, its gonna be a blast.

Hey guys...

We'd like to send out a big thanks to those who came down to the PMH Foundation show at the  Flybynight Club on Saturday night

Was a heap of fun and most of all it was great to be part of a show that raised over $14,000 for the PMH foundation on the night

That was a great effort by Lisa Johns from  Muthaz who organised the entire show herself.

Homebrewe, Muthaz, Stellas Kitchen and the Choirboys all were solid in performance. Mark, Ian and the guys from Choirboys were really cool guys and they really should be commended for coming all the way over from Sydney for Lisa just to do this show for no charge! What support!!

Thanks to Julie Pedulla for hosting the night in style and the sponsors Kosmic, Altitud Real Estate and Castlelion wines.
Cant wait for the next show and hope to see even more of you guys down to support!

'Rockin it for Life' Festival with the Choirboys
Saturday 5th September 2009 1:40PM - dom

The Choirboys are coming to Perth for 1 show only and its a very special event for the PMH Foundation.

This one off show has been inspired by the very unfortunate story of Nicholas Johns who lost his struggle with cancer at the age of 2. After her tragic loss, Nicholas's mother Lisa Johns struggled with putting her life back together. Motivated by her son and a dream to help other families and kids who lean on the PMH foundation, Lisa decided to form a band comprised of Mothers.

With no musical experience herself, Lisa held auditions to find Mothers with similar personalities and attitudes, not musical ability. Muthaz was formed in 2007 and the quest to become a band that existed to raise money for charities begun.

As a Choir Boys fan, Lisa approached Mark Gable and the story moved him so much that they wanted to help Lisa's dream become a reality.

Noiseworks Show Canceled!

Thursday 19 March 2009 at 8:00pm - dan

Yes, it is with much disappointment that we confirm the Noiseworks and Stellas Kitchen show is canceled. As support act we're not really in the position to be saying anything official, especially as we don't even know if the matter could turn legal, but at the same time we feel something has to be said as people are asking us in droves! On the weekend the decision was made by the venue, but we were hoping that it may still go ahead or venue be changed etc.  But that has not been the case and that venue has stuck to their shock decision to cancel it.

We have been talking direct to Noisework's manager and they are just as disappointed and when Noiseworks pass on official statements to us, we will forward that to all as well.  We'll stay in touch with Noiseworks and will try to secure another show with them in the future.

We feel for those who have bought tickets and have even booked flights and accommodation to come to this show. We put alot of effort into this and even held off on other opportunities that were presented to us for this show, so we share your sentiments.

On a brighter note, we will be supporting other artists later this year and will be sure to announce those shows as they come to fruition. Along with a launch for our debut 'Fundamentals EP', new video clip and  2009 GYO 3 National compilation CD Showcase release by Foghorn Records.

We appreciate all the support you have given us it has been overwhelming.
